Privacy Policy

Effective Date: April 1, 2025  •  Last Updated: March 2025

Plain-Language Summary

We collect information you give us when you list a business or contact a vendor. We use Meta Pixel, Google Analytics, and retargeting ads — which means those platforms receive some data about site visitors. We store contact form submissions for our own records. We do not sell your personal information to unrelated third-party marketing companies. Read on for the full details.

01 Who We Are

PA Wedding Guide is Pennsylvania's homegrown wedding vendor directory, operated at paweddingguide.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information — and what rights you have. By using our website, you agree to the practices described here.

Data Controller: PA Wedding Guide is the controller of personal information collected through this website. Questions or requests can be directed to info@paweddingguide.com.

02 Information We Collect

A. Information You Provide Directly

We collect information you actively give us, including when you:

  • Create or manage a vendor listing (business name, address, phone number, email, website, photos, description, pricing)
  • Contact a vendor through our site (your name, email address, wedding date, and message content)
  • Subscribe to our newsletter or email list (name and email address)
  • Purchase a listing or paid service (billing name, address, and payment card details — processed by our payment provider; we do not store full card numbers)
  • Submit a review, photo, or other content
  • Contact us directly for support or inquiries

B. Information Collected Automatically

When you visit our website, our servers and third-party tools automatically collect:

  • IP address and approximate location (city/state/country)
  • Browser type, operating system, and device type
  • Pages viewed, links clicked, time spent on each page, and navigation paths
  • Referring URL (the site that sent you to us)
  • Search terms used to find our site
  • Event data collected by Meta Pixel, Google Analytics, and ad network tags (see Section 5)

C. Information From Third Parties

We may receive information about you from:

  • Social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram) if you interact with our pages or ads
  • Our email marketing provider (FluentCRM) regarding how you interact with emails we send you
  • Ad networks and retargeting platforms regarding ad impressions and clicks

03 How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Operate, maintain, and improve the PA Wedding Guide directory
  • Display vendor listings and facilitate connections between couples and wedding professionals
  • Route contact form submissions to the appropriate vendor
  • Store contact form submissions internally for site statistics and, where you've opted in, for our own marketing communications to you
  • Send transactional emails (account confirmations, listing updates, payment receipts)
  • Send marketing emails about PA Wedding Guide news, features, and promotions — you may opt out at any time (see Section 7)
  • Serve and measure targeted advertising through Meta, Google, and ad networks (see Section 5)
  • Analyze website traffic and usage trends to improve our site
  • Detect and prevent fraud, spam, and abuse
  • Comply with applicable laws and legal obligations

04 How We Share Your Information

A. Vendors Who Receive Your Contact Inquiry

When you submit a contact form to reach a vendor, your name, email address, wedding date, and message are delivered directly to that vendor via email. That vendor is an independent third party operating under their own privacy policy. We also retain a copy of the submission for our internal records and, where applicable, for follow-up marketing to you.

B. Advertising and Analytics Platforms

We use Meta Pixel (Facebook/Instagram), Google Analytics, and retargeting ad networks on our website. By using our site, these platforms may receive data about your visit, including your IP address, pages viewed, and actions taken. This may constitute "sharing" or "selling" personal information under certain state privacy laws (e.g., California CCPA). You have the right to opt out — see Section 7.

  • Meta Pixel: Collects behavioral data to enable Facebook/Instagram ad targeting and conversion tracking. Governed by Meta's Data Policy (facebook.com/policy).
  • Google Analytics: Collects anonymized traffic and usage data. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy (policies.google.com/privacy). You may opt out via Google's opt-out browser add-on.
  • Retargeting / Ad Networks: Allow us to show ads to past site visitors on other websites and platforms. These networks use cookies and device identifiers to track activity across sites.

C. Service Providers Acting on Our Behalf

We share information with trusted vendors who help us operate our business. These providers may only use your data to perform services for us and are contractually prohibited from using it for their own purposes. This includes email delivery and marketing automation (FluentCRM / Amazon SES), web hosting and infrastructure (Kinsta), and payment processing.

D. What We Do Not Do

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to unrelated third-party marketing companies for their own independent marketing purposes. Sharing data with advertising platforms (Meta, Google, ad networks) as described above is not considered a sale under our practices, but may be treated as such under certain state laws — see Section 7 for your opt-out rights.

E. Legal Requirements & Business Transfers

We may disclose your information when required by law, subpoena, or government request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of PA Wedding Guide, our users, or the public. If PA Wedding Guide is acquired or undergoes a change in ownership, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, and we will notify users before it takes effect.

05 Cookies & Tracking Technologies

We use the following types of tracking technologies on our site:

  • Essential Cookies: Required for the site to function (e.g., keeping you logged in, remembering your preferences). Cannot be disabled without breaking the site.
  • Analytics Cookies (Google Analytics): Track how visitors use our site in aggregate. Data is anonymized. Opt out at: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
  • Advertising / Pixel Tags (Meta Pixel): Track actions on our site to measure ad performance and enable retargeted advertising on Facebook and Instagram. Manage preferences at: facebook.com/ads/preferences.
  • Retargeting Tags (Ad Networks): Allow third-party ad networks to serve ads to past visitors on other websites. Opt out at: aboutads.info/choices or networkadvertising.org/choices.
  • Email Tracking Pixels (FluentCRM): Embedded in emails we send to detect whether the email was opened or links were clicked. You may disable this by turning off image loading in your email client.

Cookie Controls: You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect site functionality and may prevent opt-out mechanisms that rely on cookies from working properly. If you clear your cookies, you'll need to re-submit any opt-out preferences.

Do Not Track: Our site does not currently respond to browser-based "Do Not Track" (DNT) signals, as there is no uniform industry standard. We do, however, honor opt-out rights as described in Section 7.

06 Email Marketing & SMS

Email Marketing

If you subscribe to our newsletter or opt in to marketing emails, we'll send you communications about PA Wedding Guide news, vendor spotlights, promotions, and related content. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. You may also opt out by emailing info@paweddingguide.com with the subject line "Unsubscribe."

Opting out of marketing emails won't affect transactional emails related to your account or listings (e.g., billing receipts, listing expiration notices). We manage email marketing through FluentCRM and do not share your email address with unrelated third parties.

SMS / Text Messaging (Future Use)

We do not currently send SMS marketing messages. If we introduce SMS communications in the future, the following will apply:

  • We'll only send SMS messages to users who have provided their mobile number and given explicit prior written consent.
  • Message frequency will vary. Standard message and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply.
  • You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message. Reply HELP for assistance.
  • Consent to receive SMS is not required as a condition of purchasing any product or service from us.
  • We will not share your mobile number with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

08 Data Security

We implement commercially reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data transmitted to and from our site, secure hosting with access controls, restricted internal access on a need-to-know basis, and PCI-DSS compliant payment processing. We do not store full payment card numbers.

Despite these measures, no method of data transmission or storage is 100% secure. In the event of a data breach, we'll notify affected users as required by applicable law. If you suspect unauthorized access to your account, please notify us immediately at info@paweddingguide.com.

When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it. You may request earlier deletion as described in Section 7.

10 Children's Privacy

PA Wedding Guide is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we've inadvertently collected such information, we'll delete it promptly. Users must be at least 18 years of age to create a vendor listing or purchase a paid service.

11 Third-Party Links & Vendor Websites

Our site contains links to vendor websites and third-party platforms (including social media). This Privacy Policy applies only to paweddingguide.com. When you click a link to an external site, that site's own privacy policy governs the collection and use of your information. We encourage you to review their policies before providing any personal information.

12 International Users

PA Wedding Guide is operated in the United States and is intended for users in the United States. If you access our site from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. By using our site, you consent to this transfer and processing.

13 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we do, we'll update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we'll provide additional notice — such as a prominent site notice or an email to registered users — at least 30 days before the change takes effect where feasible. Your continued use of our site after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
